Data Governance Engineer in Uber

How many engineers does it take to build an app that simplifies grocery shopping for users? At least 600, because that’s how many we have in our Engineering team, working from different countries in South and North America. The Engineering team is dedicated to producing intuitive technology for customers, shoppers and stores and solving challenges along the way.

Our Data Governance Engineer will be in charge of establishing the bridge between our business and technology. You will be raising the data requirements to the Engineering team so that it converges with the business definitions in the simplest way possible, achieving a change in the way we relate to the data. You will have the opportunity to get to know and learn in depth about our business and the data technology that supports it.

What will you do?

• Align with the Uber team the definitions of the most relevant business indicators
• Model and document the data lifecycle.
• Identify data quality controls
• Orchestrate that definitions are properly implemented in data marts and reports/visualizations
• Work hand in hand with both business and technology teams, especially data and business intelligence engineers from both Cornershop and Uber.

• Good interpersonal skills to interact with various areas of the company.
• Some experience working with database query technologies such as SQL, cloud technologies for data warehousing and data processing.
• You are proficient in spoken and written English.
• Pragmatic and results-oriented.

• You have experience in one of the Data Management disciplines (e.g. Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Data Quality, Data Governance, etc).
• You understand the data management ecosystem
• You have experience implementing a data governance program and/or data quality projects.
