Job functions

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple, concurrent projects of varying complexity through all phases of the project life cycle to ensure that functionality and performance objectives are met on schedule and within approved budgets
  • Lead cross-functional teams tracking/monitoring action items, issues, and inter-dependencies to closure
  • Organize and facilitate sprint/release planning meetings, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and demos
  • Ensure that the scrum team is empowered, yet has solid processes and excellent discipline by following the Agile Management Framework (AMF) including collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments through story selection and task definition. Remove roadblocks to their work. Leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work. Mentor and develop team members
  • Actively manage stakeholder communications and expectations across and at all levels of the organization. Share information and work collaboratively towards a common goal
  • Measure, monitor, and report on project performance (burn down, burn up, velocity) taking appropriate corrective actions to ensure the project objectives are met
  • Manage and adapt resource assignments as required to respond to emerging requirements and risks
  • Ensure a disciplined software development approach: continuous integration, refactoring practices, peer reviews, continuous QA, and sustainable pace as standard
  • Integrate information from multiple sources in order to anticipate issues and develop solutions to resolve problems
  • Pro-actively identify, assess, and manage risks that could impact the success of the project
  • Regularly communicate status and escalate issues to the PMO, project sponsor, and the product owner as required to meet project objectives
  • Recommend, lead and/or support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications and requirements

  • Must be a Project Management Professional (PMP) plus an Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) or a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) with 10+ years combined project management and hands-on scrum master experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models
  • A proven track record of successfully leading large, complex software development projects in a fast-paced, high-tech environment with multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams
  • Results driven with a positive can-do and take-charge attitude capable of working equally effectively as a team member or as a leader
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types, as well as mentor, coach and build global teams
  • Must have exceptional leadership, communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Must be collaborative in driving decisions and effective at conflict resolution
  • Strong analytical, planning, and influencing skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Must have a creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the big picture view
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Aha! a definite asset
  • A love to learn and improve as an agile project manager, always looking to bring something new and helpful to the team
