Senior Front-end Developer in Cometa

At Cometa, we are creating the infrastructure that will power education in Latin America through financial and software solutions. Our core product delivers predictable revenues to schools and reduces friction for tuition collections.

Cometa is founded by a world-class team of serial entrepreneurs from Stanford University with experience building world-class products at Duolingo, Google, Affirm, among others. Cometa is also backed by world class investors such as Kaszek Ventures, Homebrew and Reach Capital.

As our first Front End Engineer, you will help shape our stack and define our front-end development environment and practices.

Specifically, you will find yourself doing the following:

• Develop client-side applications mixing React and Redux, and a dash of HTML5 and CSS3.
• Consume and interact with modern REST APIs.
• Employ test driven practices to guide your code-design decisions and ensure product health through E2E suites.
• Ensure any application you make is secure, robust, scalable, and maintainable.
• Shape the culture and vision of Cometa as a critical early team member.

Our current tech stack includes a Django/Django Rest app, Next.js/React at the frontend, Postgres and Redis databases, NGINX, Docker-compose, and Celery and AWS Lambda to execute asynchronous background jobs. Then, Amazon S3 and SES, Mixpanel, and Mercado Pago SDKs.

We never stop learning —and you will learn a lot with us— but when it comes to the list below, we expect you have proven experience with:

• 4+ years of experience with HTML, CSS (or Sass) and Javascript.
• At least 2 years developing SPAs with React using state management libraries such as Redux or Context.
• Mastery using source control software such as Git.
• Experience creating unit tests and integrations tests using Cypress or Jest.
• Practical knowledge integrating REST APIs.
• Constant curiosity and wiliness to learn new technologies.
• Practical knowledge using infrastructure tools such as Docker, Docker-compose, Nginx and the AWS suite.

You will stand out if you:

• Experience using Next.js in production stage.
• You have experience working at a high growth startup
• Exposure with agile methodologies.
• Knowledge and proficiency in other programming languages. Being a polyglot is a blessing
