For this role, we are working with a legal services team based in Pasadena, California, focused on immigration law. This team handles family- and humanitarian-based immigration cases, providing critical legal support and services to their clients. The project involves supporting attorneys in preparing, managing, and advancing a variety of immigration applications within a fast-paced, client-focused legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare immigration applications for filing with appropriate government agencies, including VAWA/I-360, T-Visa, U-Visa, I-485, I-130, I-765, and I-131.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding procedures, requirements, and case status updates.
  • Notify clients of missing documents and keep them informed before and after case filing.
  • Prepare weekly case status reports for the Manager to ensure workflow transparency.
  • Update client and case processing information in the case management system.
  • Support attorneys in case preparation and act as a liaison between clients and attorneys to facilitate smooth case handling.
  • Complete case preparation in a timely manner, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Maintain organized physical and electronic client files ensuring accessibility and accuracy of records.
  • Translate client documents as needed to support the legal process.
  • Assist in supervising the production team to ensure efficient operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in immigration law, with at least 1 year specializing in humanitarian cases such as VAWA and T-Visa.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required to communicate effectively with clients and manage translations.
  • Experience using immigration case management systems is preferred to facilitate organization and tracking.
  • Strong customer service orientation to maintain client satisfaction throughout the case process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to draft documents and liaise with clients and attorneys clearly and professionally.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring all filings and reports meet regulatory standards.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude, able to collaborate effectively and anticipate needs within a busy legal team environment.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience supervising or managing a production or support team within a legal or paralegal environment would be beneficial. Familiarity with a broader range of immigration application types and additional language skills beyond English and Spanish are desirable but not required. Knowledge of relevant immigration law updates, procedures, and government agency processes will enhance effectiveness in this role.
