Great Expectations LLC is a mission-driven startup focused on transforming property management from within. As part of our engineering team, you will contribute to building a clean, maintainable codebase from scratch and deliver tools actively used by a growing property management client. This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and operations, offering meaningful impact and clear growth opportunities within a small, collaborative team. You will help design scalable systems that support our clients’ needs, from backend data pipelines to user-facing interfaces, while shaping the technical culture and standards that guide our development practice.

Exclusive offer from getonbrd.com.

Functions

Lead design and implementation of scalable backend APIs using Node.js and server-side routing frameworks. Architect and maintain robust data pipelines for performance and reliability using PostgreSQL, DBT, and Redis.
Develop responsive, maintainable Svelte-based front-ends integrated with modern UI frameworks like Tailwind and ShadCN/UI. Identify and implement performance improvement techniques across both front-end and back-end, including query optimization, caching strategies, responsive design, and code-level profiling.
Define, document, and enforce architectural best practices and coding standards. Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and foster an environment of continuous technical excellence. Collaborate with product and DevOps to deliver reliable, observable production systems.

What You Will Do

We are seeking a Staff-level Full-Stack JavaScript Engineer with 7+ years of experience to lead design and implementation of full-stack applications. You will work across the stack—building efficient backend APIs, optimizing data pipelines, and crafting elegant, performant Svelte front-ends.
This role blends very hands-on development with technical leadership, setting standards for code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
You will help shape the architecture, drive modernization efforts, and partner with product, design, and DevOps to deliver high-quality software used by our clients.
Required skills include expert JavaScript (ES6+), strong Node.js API development, solid understanding of software architecture patterns (service-layered, modular architectures, repository layers, and event-driven integration), and proficiency with Svelte/SvelteKit and modern UI design principles.
You should also have experience with PostgreSQL schema design and query optimization, DBT transformations, Redis caching, performance tuning, load testing, and profiling.
Excellent communication, documentation, and system design skills are essential.

Nice-to-Have

Experience with serverless or containerized environments (Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, Docker). Exposure to data modeling for analytics or reporting pipelines. Familiarity with observability/monitoring tools . History of open-source contributions or leadership in internal tooling.

Benefits

  • You will join an engineering team that prioritizes building a clean, maintainable codebase from scratch, avoiding legacy technical debt.
  • Work directly alongside a highly experienced senior engineer who will provide mentorship, technical guidance, and collaboration.
  • Receive competitive compensation paid in USD, reflecting the value of your contributions.
  • Contribute to real impact by developing tools actively used by a growing property management client.
  • Enjoy significant growth potential, with clear pathways to advance your career within the company.
