Pavago is a company that connects talented professionals to high-impact roles. This particular opportunity is focused on their client in the construction industry, specifically in multi-family apartment construction projects. The Senior Accountant role is critical to managing accurate and effective financial operations within construction accounting, ensuring detailed job costing and project-based accounting for ongoing multi-family apartment developments. The client values candidates with strong U.S.-based construction accounting experience and deep familiarity with construction financial systems such as Sage Intacct.
As a Senior Accountant in the Construction sector, you will be responsible for handling the full-cycle accounting processes including journal entries, payroll management, fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end closes, and preparation of financial statements. You will oversee the management and accurate input of financial data into Sage Intacct from various sources, demonstrating an ability to adapt quickly to new financial platforms and systems.
A core focus will be construction job costing and project-based accounting tailored to multi-family apartment construction projects. This includes detailed tracking and financial oversight of each construction job's costs to ensure accuracy and budget compliance.
Additional responsibilities include performing financial analyses to evaluate performance metrics and provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve financial efficiency. You will utilize advanced Excel skills for financial modeling, reporting, and data management.
Your role also involves proactive problem-solving and analytical thinking to identify discrepancies, reconcile complex financial data, and implement necessary corrective actions. Clear communication and coordination are imperative to ensure timely completion of financial transactions and adherence to deadlines by both your team and employees.
Maintaining a detail-oriented approach is essential, ensuring all financial records are accurate, reconciled, and compliant with established processes.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong to very strong background in full-cycle accounting within construction companies, encompassing payroll, accounts reconciliation, and comprehensive financial reporting. You will have over 5 years of professional experience in financial management, accounting, or controlling roles, particularly in U.S.-based construction environments.
Your financial analysis and problem-solving capabilities must be excellent, allowing you to evaluate complex data and provide sound financial decisions. Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and reporting is required to manage and interpret data effectively.
Experience with Sage Intacct is critical, as you will be responsible for overseeing its use and ensuring accurate financial data integration from multiple sources. Adaptability to new financial systems is a key trait.
Strong communication skills are necessary to clearly articulate financial issues and deadlines to your team and management, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring compliance with financial protocols. Attention to detail and reliability are essential qualities for precision in reporting and execution of tasks.
Since the role is remote, a reliable internet connection is also required to support uninterrupted workflow and participation in virtual meetings.
Experience specifically within multi-family apartment construction accounting is highly desirable, as is familiarity with other financial platforms such as QuickBooks, which may be referenced during interviews. Additional knowledge of industry-specific accounting nuances and controls would be a significant advantage.
Skills in advanced financial systems beyond Sage Intacct, especially tools used for data visualization and dynamic reporting, would strengthen your candidacy. Familiarity with cloud-based accounting solutions and automation of financial processes can also enhance productivity.
Soft skills including strong organizational ability, self-motivation for remote work environments, and conflict resolution competencies would contribute positively to overall team dynamics and project success.
This is a full-time remote opportunity allowing flexibility to work from anywhere, with working hours aligned to Central Standard Time (CST) to foster timely coordination with the team. We value a structured and reliable remote work environment supported by necessary technology and connectivity.
The interview process is designed to thoroughly assess financial expertise and cultural fit via multiple stages including phone, video, and final client interviews, ensuring alignment with role objectives. Background and reference checks will be conducted to verify professional experience.
We offer the chance to engage with a respected client in the construction industry and contribute significantly to high-value, multi-family apartment construction projects. We are eager to hear from candidates dedicated to excellence in construction accounting with advanced financial system skills.
