At Cometa, we are creating the infrastructure that will power education in Latin America through financial and software solutions. Our core product delivers predictable revenues to schools and reduces friction for tuition collections.

Job functions

You will shape the the foundation of our product from core features to our visual identity. We believe that great design shapes not just what we build, but how we can solve problems for schools and parents, so we want to invest in this role from day 1.

We want to build an empathetic, exciting, and delightful brand and experience for both school administrators and parents.

Specifically, you will find yourself doing the following:

Lead design for our core products, from major product features, to the interactions that leave users smiling
Own end-to-end product design strategy and contribute to product strategy
Stretch your wings from brand to marketing design, we're excited for you to collaborate with other teams
Establish an internal design system, while obsessing over the details of visual and motion design
Assist with user research and turn insights into wireframes and mock-ups that users will love
Contribute to visual brand and graphic design for Cometa, including assisting in designing a beautiful and user-friendly website experience
Shape the culture and vision of Cometa as a critical early team member

Qualifications and requirements

💻 Your skills & experience

We never stop learning —and you will learn a lot with us— but when it comes to the list below, we expect you have proven experience with:

5+ years experience as a product designer (or adjacent), for example, 4 years as a product designer and 1 year as a UX researcher would work well
Mastery with Figma for graphic and product design (we use Figma for all product prototyping)
Ability to ship products quickly and possess strong pattern recognition

Desirable skills

You will stand out if you:

Have demonstrated leadership or have worked as a founding designer in previous roles
You have experience working at a high growth startup
Exposure with agile methodologies

Location:

Mexico City: We are opening a beautiful office in CDMX. We're open to employees working full time from this office or with a balance of work from home and in the office. We are open to helping you relocate and making a smooth transition successful!
LatAm Remote: ****We're open to this role being remote, although we have a preference for CDMX. We're committed to making Cometa a wonderful place for all employees, regardless of if they're working from their home or an office. We do want our teams co-locating at least once a year to help build a strong starting team.
