Job functions

Job Description:

As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for serving your team(s) by ensuring clear communication and helping the team reach its goal. The Scrum Master will drive the appropriate Agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban/etc.), focused on predictable, quality delivery and driving continuous improvement of the team. The Scrum Master will facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals, preserving flexibility, and rapidly responding to changes on the team.

As the Sr. Scrum Master, you will have following key accountabilities:

  • Serve as Scrum Master for 2-3 Scrum teams
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and provide coaching to further mature the teams (Daily Scrum, retrospectives, sprint planning, demonstrations, etc...)
  • Ensure team maintains focus on quality and continuous delivery of business value
  • Help team pro-actively identify impediments, recommend solutions, and, where appropriate, remove impediments
  • Represent team in daily or Scrum meetings and clearly communicate team accomplishments, impediments, and downstream impacts
  • Coach the team to improve collaboration and self-organization
  • Demonstrate ability to balance data with other factors when making decisions
  • Utilize team feedback, analyze data, and report on team quality, delivery rate, throughput, productivity, velocity, etc. to identify areas of opportunity and improve team efficiency and delivery
  • Capture and recommend new data trends to help the teams mature
  • Actively identify points of success and failure within the team and communicate learnings to other teams
  • Demonstrate ability to identify process inefficiencies, recommend solutions, and influence teams to change and get better

Qualifications and requirements

Now that we have introduced you to the position of Sr. Scrum Master, what skills, qualifications, and experience should you, have?

  • Up to date CSM or PSM I certification
  • 6+ years working with Agile Software Development Teams
  • 3+ years working as a Scrum Master
  • Strong understanding and enthusiasm for Agile
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships the Scrum team and stakeholders
  • Comfortable working with multiple teams, in-house and remote
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Background:

  • CSPO – Certified Scrum Product Owner
  • PSM II or A-CSM certification
  • Development background a huge plus
  • Scaled frameworks such as LeSS
