Career Mentor (Fully ) in Talently

Talently (500 Startups W19) is an online program for tech professionals in Latam that helps them hack their way to their next remote job by developing their career, tech and English skills. We do so aligning incentives: participants only pay the program’s full fee once they succeed in getting hired.

We’re looking for a driven individual to join our team as a Part-Time Career Mentor. The job’s goal is to get our participants hired! To achieve this goal, you’ll need to perform these and other activities:

• Lead 1:1 sessions with participants to develop their soft skills and personal brand.
• Help participants set goals and design job application strategies to guarantee their successful job insertion.
• Help participants with job sourcing and recommending opportunities.
• Track participants’ performance, conducting sessions to discuss their job search updates and coordinating extra sessions with other advisors as needed.
• Serve as an accountability partner for participants to promote attendance, engagement, and others if needed.
• Collaborate with the Mentorship and Content team regarding the execution of expected deliverables.
• Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the participant experience and the program as a whole.

Experience and education

• 2+ years of experience working in recruiting, mentoring, customer support, or other people-related activities or tech sector.
• Excellent English communication skills (writing and speaking).
• Degree or current studies in Psychology, Business, or similar.

• Ability to work well with a team in a fast-paced and remote environment.
• Enjoy working with people in a 1:1 setting.
• Capable of having critical and direct conversations.
• Strong attention to detail and follow up skills.
• Developed ownership, follow up and negotiation skills.
• Ability to uplift people through challenging times and help them succeed.

• Have experience in the tech industry.
• Have participated in coding Bootcamps or similar experiences.
