Front-end Software Engineer in Gamaga

Our mobile games--Animation Throwdown, Bit Heroes, and surviv.io-- have been downloaded hundreds of millions of times!

Our company is seeking a highly skilled Front End Developer to work alongside our design and engineering teams to create the sites that bring our community gaming experience to the world. You’ll be working on an international team, with members based in both the United States and South America.

For team members in Santiago, Chile this will be a hybrid-remote position and you are expected to join us in the office one day a week for collaboration. Outside the local commute area this position can be arranged to be fully remote.

Responsibilities

• Develop new user-facing features, determine the structure of web pages, build reusable code and components, optimize page loading times, and use a variety of markup languages to create web pages.
• Maintain and improve existing Platform features and documentation.
• Test and deploy Platform features and fixes.
• Create clean and solid code from mockups
• Resolve cross-browser compatibility issues
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams
• Identify and optimize performance problems
• Support artists and designers by building tools and researching engine features
• Participate in code review as a learning tool

• Strong knowledge of the following technologies:
  • CSS
  • HTML
  • JavaScript
  • Turbo/Hotwire
  • Stimulus.js
  • Web Components and the Lit framework
• 3+ years of programming experience in a work environment
• Able to work effectively with artists, designers, data analysts, and engineers
• Motivated to independently identify areas of code that need improvement
• Willingness to learn new technologies as needed
• Able to communicate in English at an advanced level, as you’ll be working with a team that is primarily US-based.

• Ruby on Rails experience
• Experience programming with HTTP APIs using REST and JSON interfaces
• Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related degree
• Familiarity with products from Kongregate
