Great Expectations LLC is a U.S.-based startup on a mission to transform the $100 billion+ property management industry, a market known for fragmentation and outdated software solutions. We create beautiful, efficient, and scalable tools that leverage artificial intelligence, automation, and user-centered design to streamline property management workflows. Our engineering team follows best practices including modular architecture, clean code, and comprehensive testing to ensure quality and maintainability. The project currently focuses on delivering core systems that enhance marketing automation, accounting and operations workflows, as well as business intelligence and reporting capabilities for property management companies.

This job offer is available on Get on Board.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain features across the full technology stack including backend APIs, services, frontend user interfaces, and infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate closely with a senior software engineer based in Argentina, contributing to scalable and maintainable software design and implementation.
  • Architect and implement core systems covering key business domains such as marketing automation, accounting, operational workflows, and business intelligence/reporting tools.
  • Participate actively in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high code quality standards by writing and maintaining automated tests.
  • Engage in fast-paced development cycles, embracing learning and adapting quickly to new challenges and technologies.
  • Grow professionally within the company’s engineering team with opportunities to take on increasing responsibilities over time.

What We’re Looking For

We seek an early-career full stack developer with at least two years of professional experience. Candidates should have a solid foundation in JavaScript, particularly Node.js, with familiarity or eagerness to learn TypeScript considered a plus. Experience with front-end frameworks, preferably Svelte, is highly desirable; however, React or Vue skills will also be well regarded.

Proficiency with Git and managing asynchronous workflows and API integrations is essential, as is working with relational databases using SQL. A strong grasp of software engineering best practices — including version control, code reviews, automated testing, and design patterns — is required to uphold our quality standards.

Excellent communication skills in English and comfort working remotely with a distributed team are key to success in this role. We value proactive collaboration and the ability to clearly articulate technical ideas.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience or familiarity with Azure and SQL Server, and ORMs like Sequelize
  • Hands-on knowledge of deployment and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows.
  • An interest in real estate technology (proptech) or a passion for helping legacy industries modernize through automation and software.

Why This Role Is Special

  • You will join an engineering team that prioritizes building a clean, maintainable codebase from scratch, avoiding legacy technical debt.
  • Work directly alongside a highly experienced senior engineer who will provide mentorship, technical guidance, and collaboration.
  • Receive competitive compensation paid in USD, reflecting the value of your contributions.
  • Contribute to real impact by developing tools actively used by a growing property management client.
  • Enjoy significant growth potential, with clear pathways to advance your career within the company.
