gener8tor supports communities investing in their best and brightest via its venture capital funds and accelerator network. gener8tor is seeking an experienced Software Engineer who will have a direct, measurable impact on internal and operational metrics. You will work closely with the Director of Engineering to develop, test and maintain custom software solutions while also optimizing workflows and data management on critical business and productivity tools used in gener8tor’s daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute multiple projects that require developing and/or maintaining internal and external software tools that will shape gener8tor’s technology landscape, optimizing workflows, delivering solutions and driving innovation.
  • Design, develop, and test custom software solutions by working on projects that offer the opportunity to sharpen both your frontend and backend skills. You will execute end-to-end projects following coding standards, best practices, unit testing, and industry conventions.
  • Implement solutions to address our scaling challenges as well as building new features to support our data models, focusing on the architecture of our web app and cloud services.
  • Communicate with project stakeholders and convert technical requirements into actionable steps for project roadmaps.
  • Leverage technical acumen to think creatively and come up with technical solutions that solve problems for non-technical teams within the organization.
  • Assist with documentation related to custom software, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support all technical needs related to existing platforms and workflows, including diagnosing and resolving issues related to legacy software and other business and productivity tools.
  • Optimize workflows, data management, and integrations to streamline operations within currently used business and productivity tools such as Airtable, HubSpot, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.

Requirements

  • Proficient English - Level C1-C2.
  • Strong/advanced experience with an object-oriented programming language, preferably python.
  • 3+ years' experience developing with python, Django, TailwindCSS, and SQL.
  • Intermediate TailwindCSS experience is required (such as understanding how to build advanced customizations for a project, including functions, themes and systems).
  • Strong/advanced SQL skills required (PostgreSQL is used).
  • Strong/advanced knowledge of creating RESTful APIs using Django Rest Framework (DRF) for communication between the front-end and back-end.
  • Familiarity with writing tests for your Django application using the built-in testing framework and ensuring proper coverage.
  • Strong understanding of web development experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Adhering to and ensuring engineering best practices using modern SDLC.
  • Experience using version control systems like Git to collaborate with team members and track changes.
  • Intermediate experience with CI/CD cloud pipelines is required. We favor automated testing and fast deployments. We use Heroku along with AWS suites of tools.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to assist in debugging legacy software issues.
  • Tech-savvy and adaptable, with the capability to optimize workflows, setup integrations, and improve data management using various tools.
  • Eagerness to learn and integrate different tools to enhance data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, creative thinking and collaboration with non-technical stakeholders.
