Job functions

  • Dive into our database and system architecture, quickly getting up to speed with how our development environment works.
  • Review existing integrations - asking questions and making suggestions for improvements.
  • Work with both web and iOS developers to independently develop features from scratch and create pull requests.
  • Study our documentation library and write engineering specifications for upcoming projects.
  • Work alongside our Systems Architect to ideate strategy for major (yearly) feature releases.
  • Help scale our backend development infrastructure so our services can be used by more people around the world and have a positive impact on their lives.
  • Work closely with our front-end and iOS engineers to build cutting-edge tools such as Interactive Video.

Qualifications and requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a developer
  • Experience with Node.js (Development experience with object oriented JavaScript, Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git), Experience developing RESTful API, Integration Tests)
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relation database
  • Be self-sufficient and solve problems independently, reaching out for assistance when needed.
  • Consistently ensure accuracy and precision by having a strong eye for details.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and advocate for what you need for project success.
  • Reliably estimate project scope, asking questions when things are not clear.
  • Write thorough technical documentation that is detailed and organized.
  • Never be satisfied - constantly strive to improve with each release. Learn quickly and embrace change.

Desirable skills

  • Experience with TDD
  • Experience with AWS (S3, API Gateway, Cloudfront)
  • Experience with Distributed Architecture
  • Experience with No-sql data structures with PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Angular.js
