Data Engineer / Architect in Synopsys

The Synopsys Central Engineering team is tasked to digitize Synopsys product development activities. We will achieve it by identifying areas of improvement and correlating various aspects of the product development and providing all levels of management visibility for action. The domain areas we are focused on relate to Quality, Productivity, Data Governance, and Operational Efficiency.

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer / Architect who will be responsible for improving data quality in in-house application OLTP databases. The best way to achieve data quality is to correct it at the source. You will be responsible to work with database owners/stewards to learn and collect the semantics of the databases and help them with data quality.

This job requires good OLTP data modeling experience.

Our goal is to update our platforms to contain high data quality before being loaded into our ELT data engineering pipelines.

Responsibilities:

· Work with in-house application Data Stewards lead the Data Contract process

· Work with existing systems / application owners to optimize existing databases with referential integrity and triggers to maintain consistency and data quality

· Guide Data Stewards to create database documentation that goes into the Data Catalog

· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements of new systems and design database models that meet those requirements

· Work with cross-functional teams to identify and address database related issues

· Collaborate with developers to optimize database performance and query optimization

· Define database design guidelines to help application designers

· Contribute to the development of technical documentation and guidelines to define the system components, development environment and implementation planning/strategies

· Stay current with new database technologies and incorporate them into development projects as appropriate.

Expertise & Skills:

· OLTP relational modeling and schema design expertise a must

· SQL query optimization a must

· OLAP dimension modeling experience is a plus

· Writing dbt models and Airflow DAGS a plus

· Must be detailed-oriented with a passion for data accuracy and reliable solution development

· Snowflake experience a plus

· The ability to work with other team members, drive projects to completion, and work autonomously

· Excellent written and verbal communication and have proven organizational and planning skills

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field

· 5 years of relevant experience

· 5 years of experience in database architecture and design
