What we're building: We're a two-person startup seeking a remote contractor full stack developer to accelerate our product development. You'll work directly with the founder to architect, implement, and optimize features that drive customer value.

Tech stack: Python 3.12, Django, Airflow, MongoDB, Next.js, TypeScript, Pulumi, AWS ECS, GitHub. The work spans Python-based backend services, data processing pipelines, and modern frontend interfaces. You'll collaborate on API design, data modeling, workflow orchestration, and front-end components.

What you will do

Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Python 3.12 and Django, ensuring scalability and reliability for data-heavy workloads.
Build and optimize data pipelines with Airflow and MongoDB, enabling efficient processing of large datasets.
Implement modern frontend components with Next.js and TypeScript to deliver responsive, accessible user interfaces.
Collaborate on infrastructure as code and deployment pipelines using Pulumi and AWS ECS to support continuous delivery.
Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and best-practice establishment for a growing startup.
Work closely with product and design to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
Hours: You must be available most work days between 10am - 3pm Pacific Time

Required skills and experience

Proven experience as a full stack developer, preferably in a startup or contract environment.
Proficiency with Python 3.12, Django, and MongoDB, including data modeling and query optimization.
Strong experience with Next.js and TypeScript for building scalable frontend applications.
Hands-on knowledge of Airflow for workflow orchestration and data pipeline management.
Familiarity with Pulumi or similar IaC tools and deploying to AWS (ECS or equivalent), including CI/CD practices.
Experience with GitHub workflows, including PR reviews, issue tracking, and release management.
Ability to design clean, maintainable APIs and collaborate effectively with a small, distributed team.
Strong problem-solving skills, proactive communication, and a pragmatic, ownership-driven attitude.

Desirable skills and experience

Experience with data processing at scale and performance tuning for large datasets.
Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and event-driven design patterns.
Familiarity with DevOps culture, monitoring, and observability tools.
Experience working with startups or in lean, fast-paced environments.
Experience working with B2B APIs such as Google Ads
