Full-Stack (PHP, JS) Web Developer in Mero

Mero is an intelligent labour and supply management platform for commercial property managers, saving 35%+ in supply costs for facilities. The technology uses smart sensing in commercial restrooms to reduce unnecessary trips to restrooms and reduces supply waste due to routine-based cleaning, creating a more efficient and streamlined operation. Large office complexes, major airports, and international hotel chains already trust Mero to dispatch their cleaning staff on a proactive basis. We are looking for engineering talent to join our growing team based in Toronto, Canada. This is a remote position with opportunity to convert to a local position if desired.

We are looking for experienced software engineers who love innovating traditional (or “un-sexy”) industries and enterprise-grade code that scales. The ideal candidate would be someone who has a genuine passion for designing and implementing elegant solutions. They would also be intimately familiar with the stack at Mero so they can make sound decisions when it comes to choosing the right tool or library for the job. This senior developer will also be responsible for managing a team of developers who already engage in agile practices.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design and development of projects, in a team.
• Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring new team members.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and participate in design decisions.
• Be the gatekeeper of the codebase and ensure that it stays stable, readable, and free of technical debt.

• 4+ years of experience as professional software engineer/developer.
• Strong software development fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, etc.).
• Senior/Expert level familiarity with modern programming languages including Laravel
• Senior/Expert level familiarity with one or more frontend frameworks, preferably Vue or React.
• Deep understanding of performance implications and scalability of code.
• Keenness for writing good, meaningful tests and maintaining thorough test coverage.

• Able to lead teams (including Scrums and managing task managers (Github, JIRA)
• Experience with AWS
• Strong written and spoken English skills
