Our game development team has members from all over the world, working on fun and fulfilling games for both mobile and Kongregate.com, and we are inviting you to join our team as part of our Gamaga crew!

This role is situated in our Santiago, Chile office but open to candidates across Latin America. Employees local to Santiago will work in a hybrid environment and are expected to report into the office 1-2 days a week. Outside of the local area arrangements to be fully remote can be made.

Job functions

Working with general supervision, the LiveOps Software Engineer is an individual contributor working on support tasks related to server setup, updates, and deployment of games created and published by Kongregate. Contributors in this role are seen as autonomous and can pick up new tools and languages quickly. It is important to have a strong grasp of computer science fundamentals and how they apply to making games, as well as a desire to support customers and resolve technical issues. You will work closely with the technical leads, architects, and product managers to make sure quality and business objectives are achieved. This role will have a direct impact on the product; pushing new features on a consistent cadence.

LiveOps Software Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop best of class games on mobile and web enabled devices using Unity, C#, Java, SQL on Unix based operating systems
  • Creates and pushes features that align with product objectives autonomously
  • Uses project management tools
  • Works closely with the producer to accomplish sprint goals
  • Breakdown specs and tasks into logical components
  • Identifies bugs and issues with the codebase
  • Participate in code reviews.
  • Proficient in mobile platform development with experience shipping games for Android and IOS devices.
  • Solve problems in live operations
  • Able to work autonomously with direction
  • Writes code 95-100% of the time

Qualifications and requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years software engineering experience, which should ideally include customer support, ticket solving, and/or LiveOps experience
  • Advanced English speaking skill and comfortable interacting frequently with team members located in the US and globally.
  • Professional experience working in game or mobile development is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of client and server interactions, including troubleshooting experience.
  • Working ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease.
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities.
  • A good understanding of Java, PHP, XML, SQL,
  • Proficient at using an OOP language such as C++/C#/Javascript or equivalent
  • Proficient at picking up new tools and languages quickly
  • Able to interact with clients professionally while resolving customer support tickets

Desirable skills

  • Some familiarity with game engines and tools such as Unity or Unreal is strongly preferred
  • Previous LiveOps or ticket resolution experience
  • Customer support including direct interaction with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues
