Job functions

As we prepare to grow and further develop our product, we are seeking a passionate individual to fill the position of Senior Backend Engineer. The candidate must have excellent documentation skills, attention to detail, and time management skills. We are seeking an individual who can help us create the next-level platform in digital banking for business. The Senior Backend Engineer will report directly to the Director of Engineering.

What you’ll do:

Develop correct, robust, and efficient software systems.
Integrate APIs, libraries, and SDKs developed by third parties.
Write tests to ensure correctness using unit and integration tests, automated through a continuous integration pipeline.
Implement and maintain internal libraries to encourage code reuse and minimize technical debt.
Contribute to the long-term vision and strategy of the engineering team by staying informed, proposing, and implementing best practices for improving overall code quality.
Collaborate with managers to define tasks, deadlines, and deliverables.
Participate in active communication with team members to coordinate development efforts and resolve blocking tasks.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers on the team.

Qualifications and requirements

B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related field
7+ years of total experience in backend roles
2+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer
3+ years of experience using Python
Solid understanding in object-oriented programming fundamentals
Driven, self-motivated, and can manage multiple projects
Experience with at least one Python framework such as Flask or Django
Experience using testing frameworks such as pytest
Can approach problems with a team player mentality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable skills

Experience working with agile methodologies in a distributed team
Excellent documentation skills
Experience in API design and fundamentals
Experience with AWS or GCP
Experience using Docker
Experience with MySQL or other relational databases
Previous experience working in startups
