Senior Scientist/ Protein Engineer in Aanika Biosciences, Inc.

We are seeking a scientist with experience in molecular biology and biochemistry to join the protein design and engineering efforts at Aanika. The candidate will play a key role in developing and engineering enzymes and proteins to be used in the fields of biosensing and biocontrol. The ideal candidate has experience in assay development, high throughput screening using automated liquid handlers, and is proficient in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques applied to engineering enzymes and proteins. The candidate will work closely with the bioinformatic team to validate candidate molecules for their use in our proprietary platform.

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, synthetic biology, or closely related field.
• Two or more years of postdoctoral or industrial experience in the area of engineering enzymes and assay development. Experience in the area of surface display is highly preferred.

• Proficient in molecular biology with experience utilizing a wide array of methods for engineering enzymes, including: error-prone PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, overlapping PCR, gene assembly, etc.
• Experience in developing biosensors. Previous work experience on surface display is highly desirable.
• Proficient in assay development to evaluate enzymatic activity and high throughput screening methods.
• At least 2 first author publications in the area of developing biosensors, protein engineering, or closely related field.
• The candidate will be required to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a part of a team is a must.
• Demonstrated ability to generate novel ideas and concepts.
