By building a cutting-edge model of accessibility data, which extracts, organizes, and displays at www.gowheeltheworld.com, we allow people with disabilities to find and book places to stay, things to do, and multi-day trips with all the accessibility information they need and a specialized user experience.
The platform combines gowheeltheworld.com with the Accessibility Mapping System (AMS), our software built to collect accessibility data.

Job functions

We are looking for a person that is a skilled product owner who has a clear vision of what the stakeholders need and want the product to become and conveys it to the rest of the Development Team. Someone who is fun and inspiring to work with and is passionate about our mission and Agile methodologies.
This role is also the main point of contact between the stakeholders of a product and the team that will take care of making it a reality; this is done by taking the inputs and requests from the stakeholders and creating Epics and High-Level User Stories as well as being the only responsible for maintaining and adding tickets and user stories to the product backlog.
The product owner prioritizes the product backlog, although the team can pick the amount of work they estimate that can be done.
Responsibilities
  • Create and own the product roadmap so everyone in the team has visibility of each component and how each relates to time and key dates
  • Prioritize components based on customer's feedback or stakeholders requests
  • Take input from the requests of stakeholders and transform them into usable Epics or User Stories
  • Write user stories and tasks with quality acceptance criteria and involving tech and user specifications.
  • Anticipate to the client needs having a deep understanding of the market
  • Build and maintain the product backlog based on the requests of the stakeholders
  • Participate in the backlog grooming ceremonies to refine and prioritize tickets on the backlog
  • Talk with the development team throughout the sprint and be reachable for them
  • Motivate the development team to accomplish their sprint goals
  • Check if completed tasks meet acceptance and quality criteria before releasing them
  • Review the tasks of the sprint to ensure the accomplishment of the “Done” definition
  • Review the process of the product at the end of each sprint
  • Keep product metrics and measure advance in order to check if goals are being met.

Qualifications and requirements

You will be expected to propose ideas, as well as to be open to other’s perspectives whichever the situation.
All Wheel the World all team members are expected to speak English fluently.
Required Technical skills
  • Technology Fundamentals
You need to understand basic technological concepts like APIs, Databases, etc.
  • Customer Delight
You must be able to take proactivity to the next level and find out those needs and features that the stakeholders haven't even considered they need.
  • Vision
You must have a clear vision of the direction and scope the product is going to take.
  • Availability
You must be there for the rest of the team.
  • Good Judgement
This role heavily influences what direction the development of a product will take and so every decision they take must be very well meditated with the best Judgement possible
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
You must be able to effectively talk to and understand what the stakeholders want and interpersonal skills like empathy are necessary
  • Conflict Resolution
You must know what ideas to keep in the example of the two stakeholders and how to solve disagreements on the team.
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies
You have deep knowledge about Agile Methodologies, specifically in SCRUM
