Software Engineers within the Kongregate Platform Engineering department will be a part of the technical team responsible for feature design/development, maintenance and production support of an online game community supporting millions of monthly users. In this role you will be responsible for collaborating with other team members and the business teams to build high quality software deliverables to support business initiatives. This position works under general supervision, interacting with a supervisor several times per week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback.

Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Web application development utilizing the Ruby on Rails platform
• Web3/Blockchain Development
• Extensive use of SQL to support and develop applications
• Full life cycle analysis, planning, development and documentation
• Able to prepare, read and understand project specifications
• Meeting development and production support deadlines
• Analyze and perform system design for projects of advanced complexity
• Help to develop, set, and follow standard coding practices
• Fully documents all programs written or revised
• Problem isolation/determination
• Production support and routine maintenance

• At least 3-5 years experience in software development and developing complex web applications
• Proficient experience with a high language such as Ruby or Javascript, and with development frameworks such as Ruby on Rails
• Proficient experience with relational databases; preferably MySQL or Aurora
• Experience with development infrastructure, such as AWS Compute services, AWS Data services
• Experience with development environments such as VSCode
• Understanding of, or deep interest in Web3 and Blockchain tech
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with others as part of a global team, including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members
• Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
• Working ability to navigate complex environments and work with interdisciplinary teams and effectively communicate priorities, delivery expectations, risks and concerns to management
• Working knowledge of extreme high volume web applications
• Experience in continuous integration environments preferred
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related degree required or equivalent work experience
• Proficient English-speaking skills to be able to communicate across teams in both South American and the United States
