Job Details:

We are seeking an experienced Unity Developer for ongoing contract work to help maintain and update our existing 2D game. This is a flexible, project-based role perfect for developers who excel at making targeted improvements and implementing user-driven enhancements.

This is a contract position focused on game maintenance, updates, and incremental improvements rather than full-scale development. Work will be project-based with flexible scheduling.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Animation Management: switch animation files in and out of the existing game system.
  • User Feedback Implementation: make gameplay tweaks and adjustments based on player feedback and analytics.
  • Content Updates: add new assets, modify existing features, and implement minor gameplay changes.
  • Bug Fixes: identify and resolve issues that arise in the live game.
  • Performance Optimization: make targeted improvements to game performance when needed.
  • App Store Updates: assist with publishing updates and handling any submission issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Unity 2D game development with focus on maintenance and updates.
  • Proficiency in C# programming language.
  • Strong understanding of Unity's 2D suite, particularly animation systems and asset management.
  • Experience with Unity's 2D animation tools including Animator Controller, Animation Clips, and Timeline.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively on project status.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git preferred).
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to quickly diagnose and fix issues.
  • Familiarity with app store submission processes for iOS and Android.
  • Experience working with existing codebases and making targeted modifications.

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of shader programming and VFX Graph for 2D games — for visual effect updates and modifications.
  • Understanding of game analytics.
  • Knowledge of Unity's 2D optimization techniques and Sprite Atlas usage.

Project Details:

  • Contract Type: ongoing part-time work with flexible scheduling (12-hour commitment per week)
  • Commitment: workload based on update needs and user feedback cycles.
  • Communication: regular check-ins and project updates required.
  • Work Style: remote work with independent project management.

What We're Looking For:

The ideal team member is someone who thrives on making existing games better rather than building from scratch. We want someone comfortable jumping into an established codebase, understanding existing systems quickly, and making precise improvements that enhance the player experience.

Benefits:

  • A fully remote position with a structured schedule that supports work-life balance.
  • Two weeks of paid vacation per year.
  • 10 paid days for local holidays.

*Please note we are only looking for full-time dedicated team members who are eager to fully integrate within our team.
