Sovos is looking for a Database Administrator III to be responsible for administering, maintaining, and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the company’s multiple databases. This individual will resolve database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. The DB III, will also perform quality assurance of disaster recovery procedures.

More specifically, you will:

• Provide real-time monitor production of PostgreSQL databases that support Sovos’ SaaS Offerings
• Coordinate database tape backup/restore operations
• Perform databases space usage monitoring; table space, provide space grow estimates based on usage patterns and business growth
• Work with Development Team to improve/optimize the applications usage of database resources
• Proactively maintain the overall health of the database servers
• Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity
• Provide on call 24x7 as required by on-call schedule and/or necessity of database dependent teams who may need support outside of regular business hours
• Configure, implement and provide tier 1,2 and 3 support for incident resolution and service request processes for technical problems and IT issues involving database systems and the storage, networks and hardware these systems run on
• Follow and develop defined processes for workflow, incident and change management
• Apply knowledge and experience to recommend custom solutions to business problems
• Exercise discretion and judgment to ensure all Operational Service Levels are met
• Effectively influence others to ensure levels of quality and timelines are met during the service improvement and delivery process
• Engage and escalate to vendors for service restitution
• Provide and update documentation of configurations, maintenance plans and project updates
• Contribute to reasonable estimates of capital requirements, schedule and task estimates for project objectives

• 2-4 years of experience as an PostgreSQL DBA
• Experience with Linux, Windows operating systems
• Experience with incremental backups tools and disaster recovery techniques
• Familiarity with shell scripting, PL/SQL, SQL programming, Java
• Understanding of networking topology
• Flexible, with ability to multi-task and work with various technologies
• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Ability and desire to acquire new skills and knowledge quickly
• Experience with Postgress 11/12, including the ability to install and configure this product is a plus
• Flexibility as to the specific working hours may be required or available
• Minimal travel required to Sovos locations and events
